Subject: Playgrounds in the neighbourhood
Our purpose of writing this letter is to bring to your knowledge of our observations on most of the playgrounds in the East side of Singapore .
Our observations show that most playgrounds here are usable for people of all ages but not those with terminal illnesses or are physically disabled . It has been brought to our attention that these children cannot have their share of fun in the playgrounds at all due to their disabilities . Moreover , these playgrounds are not very safe too . The rubber floorings in many of these areas are either cracked or having needle-like things attached to it . These pose as dangers to the public , and of course , little kids who are unknown to it .
Concerned by these factors which may affect people who are playing at the playgrounds , we have some suggestions which you may want to take into consideration .
1. Whenever constructing a playground , you can use a part of the plan to design a special place for those disabled children to play at . Also , the place must be safe enough for them .
2. Most rubber floorings are colourful . In fact , too colourful . You may want to use only one particular colour for the whole floor of the playground as it will be much clearer for people to spot dangerous items stuck in the hard ground so as to avoid it .
3. You may also want to hire people to check on playgrounds and help maintain its condition once in a while . These people ought to help keep out unwanted stuffs that may cause severe injuries to others at the playgrounds . Playgrounds should be free of these objects .
Our opinions of the playgrounds are mid-ranged . There is nothing much except for the minor ‘problems’ stated above . Safety of children should always come as top priority , regardless of anything , even the degree of fun of the playgrounds . We hope you may consider our suggestions .

2a. Reflection Section:
Explain how your reading of the novel has inspired the design of the playground in 100 words.
We have a bridge at the entrance of the playgroundwhich is the same as the novel as they have a bridge at the entrance to Terabithia too. At our playground, children can find confidence and have lots of fun. They will also know that they are not neglected just like Jess in the novel. Our slides, swing, and spinner cn let them have fun and boost up their confidence at the same time. Our playground let the children feel that they are like a king or queen just like Jess and Leslie in Bridge to Terabithia.
2b. Write a 100-word explanation as to why you had chosen the specific recycled materials for your model.
Our recycled materials consists of wooden board , icecream sticks , toothpicks , cardboard and toilet rolls . We chosen all these because they're not only biodegradable , they're also found to be of use in our everyday life . We've shown that these materials can be recycled to construct something else with creativity instead of throwing them away . These materials are also easy to be used . Not only can we build a pretty and comparable to those 'playgrounds-that-do-not-use-recycled-materials' model , at the same time we are also helping to save the environment .

WIP01 - Research
(target group: children with non-contagious but terminal illnesses)
What is Terminal Restlessness or Agitation?
Those who work with the dying know this type of restlessness or agitation almost immediately. However, the public and patient's family may have no idea what is going on and often become quite alarmed at their loved one's condition.
Those who work with the dying know this type of restlessness or agitation almost immediately. However, the public and patient's family may have no idea what is going on and often become quite alarmed at their loved one's condition.
What does it look like? Although it varies somewhat in each patient, there are common themes that are seen over and over again.
They may yell out using uncharacteristic language, sometimes angrily accusing others around them. They appear extremely agitated and may not be objective about their own condition. They may be hallucinating, having psychotic episodes and be totally "out of control." At these times, the patient's safety is seriously threatened.
Some patients may demand to go to the hospital emergency room, even though there is nothing that can be done for them there. Some patients may insist that the police be called ... that someone unseen is trying to harm them. Some patients may not recognize those around them, confusing them with other people. They may act as if they were living in the past, confronting an old enemy.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION OF PLAYGROUND AND DESIGN BRIEF
Our playground is has a total of 9 models , of which includes a dance floor , 2 slides , a swing , a platform with "cushions" , a "LCD" screen , and many more .
The LCD screen is for kids to watch documentaries and to relax there . the dance floor is an idea which we initially did not want to except as it is quite irrelevant , but after some consideration , our group decided that we do not want to have the same old playground with the same old stuff , so we decided to create a "modern" playground ! We have thought that parents would want to look after thier children while thier playing and so , we have made 2 benches just for parents .
Everything is painted with many many bright colours except for the floor which is black . Reason ? We want the kids to know that although they are in a dark world of their own , they can find friends and warmth within them if they are willing to open up themselves and discover the vibrant colours around them . The main purpose is to give them hope when they are lonely and to encourage them . This idea of painting the floor black came from felicia , and i have to say , it was a good 1 . (:

Anyway today was waaaaaay fun .
Why ?
We were one-quarter slacking and three-quarters working hard on the Lit project today in Cake(PeiQi)'s home .
After sports day's events ended we rushed to eat our lunch before another rush to her house as the wooden base for the playground is in her home .
We brought the materials needed along too , of course .

At around 2pm , we managed to complete the makings of the slides and the swing .
At 3.30pm everyone were too beat to continue any further so we sat down for phototaking session .

It lasted for half an hour . *rolls eyes*
Then all of us got high !
Anyway today was waaaaaay fun .

We were actually communicating indirectly with someone* on teevee !
It's like , we laughed til our sides hurt please .
That's why we are actually slacking and working at the same time .
But it's incredibly fun !
We joked , played , fooled around ... but we were also concentrated on our project okay !
4pm , we haven't finished .
Another hour of sticking and painting and grumbling .
But yes we PERSEVERED on okay !
Around 5pm we revised our planning once more but felt it was too plain a playground .
Ruby came up with more ideas(practically she gets inspirations easily i guess) to finish the parts we were lacking on .
Touched up with everything and tadaaaaaah !
Basically our our main task is to provide children with terminal diseases with a playground they will find comfortable and heartwarming and to equip them with some lifelong learnings .
The money we used didn't even exceed $4 .
However , the materials we used actually cost more than that such as paints and stuffs .
Paints was one such problem we needed to attend to .
Almost everytime we meet up or discussed to do the project , paint is often included in our topics .
At the end of the day , the paints were either :
White : finished
Blue : half-finished
Red : half-finished
PeiQi's Lyra paints were used up the most as the three of us didn't bring ours today .
Feli's paints were used in school last week during Literature in class .
Ruby's paints were used in her home last week too .
And for me , i didn't contribute any !
Give you guys mine on monday ye !
Wahahaha so ps/sorry !
I am sure everyone had fun at the end of today and am happy to announce that we finished the whole model already .

I MUST SAY WE ARE VERY PROUD OF IT AS IT IS A COMBINED EFFORT PAID BY ALL OF US .
*We worked hard for this and throughout these few weeks , we did have arguements over some stuffs as each of us has different opinions to particular matters . However , i think the end product will be the not only the model , but the memorable times we had , to go through this together as a team .*
